CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur, who allegedly slapped actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport last month, has been transferred to the 10th Reserve Battalion in Bengaluru pending a disciplinary inquiry. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) suspended Kaur on June 6 following the incident, and an FIR was lodged against her based on a complaint by the CISF.
Official sources revealed that Kaur was immediately transferred to Bengaluru to ensure an impartial investigation. A senior commandant-rank officer is leading the inquiry, which involves recording statements from Kaur, her colleagues present at the airport, the shift in-charge, and several airline officials. The investigation is expected to take some time, after which a decision will be made regarding the constable’s future.
Kaur, who hails from Kapurthala district in Punjab, joined the CISF in 2009 and has been part of the aviation security group at Chandigarh airport since 2021. Notably, Kaur has had a clean service record with no prior vigilance inquiries or punishments. Her husband also serves at Chandigarh airport.
The incident reportedly stemmed from Kaur’s discontent with Ranaut’s stance on the farmers’ protests that had taken place across the country. Ranaut, 38, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi.
