A shocking incident unfolded in Tamil Nadu’s capital on Monday when a group of around 20 individuals allegedly entered the house of 68-year-old Kamala, the mother of YouTuber and political activist ‘Savukku’ Shankar, and dumped sewage waste and human feces inside the premises. The attackers also verbally abused Kamala using obscene language, prompting her to file a complaint with the G-3 Kilpauk Police Station.
According to a press release from the office of Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal, Kamala, who resides on Dhamotharamoorthy Street in Kilpauk, reported that the incident occurred around 9:45 AM on March 25. She urged authorities to take swift action against those responsible.
Allegations Against Chennai Police
The attack came in the wake of Savukku Shankar making serious allegations against the Greater Chennai Police and the Commissioner of Police in an interview. Following these remarks, Shankar accused the police of mishandling his mother’s case and demanded a fair investigation.
To support his claims, the YouTuber also released CCTV footage that allegedly captured the incident. Amid the growing controversy, the Commissioner of Police requested that the case be transferred to another investigative agency.
Case Moved to Crime Branch for Investigation
Initially, the complaint was registered at G-3 Kilpauk Police Station under C.S.R. No. 118/2025. However, after growing concerns about police bias, the case was handed over to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID) for further inquiry.
Political Reactions and Condemnation
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation from various political leaders across Tamil Nadu. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan, MDMK chief Vaiko, and actor-politician Vijay-led Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam general secretary N. Anand have all denounced the act and demanded strict action against those responsible.
Savukku Shankar, a vocal critic of the ruling DMK government, continues to highlight issues related to governance and law enforcement in Tamil Nadu. With the case now in the hands of the CBCID, further developments are expected as investigations progress.
