A bomb threat targeting the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai was declared a hoax after thorough security checks found no suspicious items.
An email threatening to plant seven RDX IEDs at the airport and the luxury hotel was received by the Airport Police Station on Friday morning. The message warned of a pipe bomb blast as a purported retaliation linked to the executions of Afzal Guru and Savukku Shankar.
In response, security personnel conducted detailed searches at both the airport and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, located in suburban Santacruz. Despite the high alert, no explosives or suspicious objects were found at either location.
Officials confirmed the threat was false and assured the public that all necessary precautions were taken to ensure safety. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the email.
Authorities continue to maintain heightened vigilance at key public sites across Mumbai following the incident.
