In a disturbing incident captured on video, Bittu Bajrangi, who was previously arrested in connection with violence in Haryana’s Nuh, has been seen thrashing a man with a stick while a policeman looks on without intervening. The incident has raised concerns about law enforcement’s response and vigilantism.
The video, which has gone viral, shows Bajrangi, associated with the cow vigilante group Goraksha Bajrang Force, assaulting a man named Shamu in Faridabad’s Sarurpur area. According to police officials, the incident occurred on April 1, and the victim was accused of luring two girls into his house with chocolates, sparking suspicion of potential sexual abuse.
Local residents reportedly confronted Shamu and brought him to Bajrangi’s house in Sanjay Enclave. The video depicts Bajrangi holding a stick while others from the vigilante group restrain Shamu. Despite the presence of a policeman nearby, there was no immediate intervention to stop the assault.
Speaking about the incident, the officer in charge of Saran Police Station stated, “We have seen the viral video and are looking for the man who was beaten up. After we get a complaint from him, we will take appropriate action.” He also mentioned that if no complaint is received, they will utilize the video and social media to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The incident has brought attention to the broader issue of vigilantism and the role of law enforcement in such situations. It comes in the context of previous communal violence in Haryana’s Nuh, which erupted during a procession organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad last year, resulting in casualties and property damage.
