Bihar Man Moves Court, Claims Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Shocking’ Remark Caused Loss of ₹250 in Milk

A man from Bihar’s Samastipur district has filed a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a Patna court, alleging that a remark made by the politician led to a bizarre incident where he dropped a bucket of milk, causing a loss of ₹250. Mukesh Chaudhary, the complainant, claimed that he was so shocked by Gandhi’s statement about fighting the Indian state that he lost his grip on a five-litre bucket of milk, causing it to spill.

The incident reportedly occurred after Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during a speech on January 15, when he criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his comments about the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Gandhi had said, “The BJP and RSS have captured every single institution, and we are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian State itself.”

Chaudhary, who was in the process of carrying the milk at the time, alleged that Gandhi’s words about threatening the sovereignty of India left him in such a state of shock that the bucket slipped from his hand, causing the milk to spill. He has claimed a financial loss of ₹250, based on the price of ₹50 per litre of milk.

In his plea, filed in the civil court of the Rosera sub-division, Chaudhary has sought that Rahul Gandhi be put on trial under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including Section 152, which deals with sedition. It remains unclear if the court has admitted the complaint or if further legal proceedings will take place.

Gandhi’s controversial remark during the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters in New Delhi was part of his broader criticism of the BJP and RSS. Gandhi’s statement, which was widely covered in the media, also sparked political outrage. BJP president JP Nadda condemned the remarks, calling them unfounded and alleging that the Congress leader’s speechwriters were responsible for the provocative statements.

Additionally, an FIR was filed in Assam against Gandhi for his comments on the sovereignty and integrity of India. The FIR cited sections 152 and 197 (1)d of the BNS, accusing him of acts endangering the country’s unity and sovereignty.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Rahul Gandhi continues to face backlash from political opponents, with accusations that his remarks undermine the authority of the state and could potentially incite unrest.

While the outcome of Chaudhary’s case remains to be seen, it has certainly drawn attention to the peculiar consequences of a high-profile political speech.
