Bengaluru is set to embrace the vibrant cultural fervor of Karnataka’s coastal region with the inaugural edition of ‘Namma Kambala’ scheduled for this weekend. Anticipation is high as the buffalo race, a revered cultural sport, makes its debut in the state’s capital. With elaborate arrangements in place at the Palace Grounds, around 200 pairs of buffaloes, accompanied by their owners, are expected to arrive from coastal regions.
Organizers have pulled out all the stops to ensure a grand spectacle for this historic event. Despite rumors of ticket sales, the organizers have clarified that the Kambala races on Saturday and Sunday are open to all, inviting spectators to witness the live action firsthand.
Celebrities from various domains, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, KL Rahul, Sunil Shetty, Darshan, and notable personalities from the Sandalwood industry, have received invitations to grace the occasion. The main stage is dedicated to the late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, adding a touch of reverence to the festivities.
The event, expected to draw a crowd of two lakh attendees, has prompted robust security measures by Bengaluru police to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
