Bengaluru Anticipates Extended Rainfall and Temperature Drop Over the Next Two Weeks

Bengaluru residents can expect a prolonged period of rainfall and relief from the intense heat as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and weather experts predict showers till May 19. This news comes as a respite after months of scorching temperatures in the tech capital.

According to the Bengaluru weatherman, summer thunderstorms are set to return with vigor starting May 7, leading to a significant decrease in temperatures over the next two weeks. The city is expected to experience scattered thunderstorms from Monday evening onwards.

The IMD has issued alerts for light to moderate rainfall accompanied by moderate to intense thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in South Interior Karnataka, parts of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema. Meanwhile, North Karnataka, heading for elections, faces a severe heat wave, prompting public advisories to avoid direct sunlight exposure and stay hydrated.

The rainfall in Bengaluru brings relief to residents who have endured sweltering conditions. However, areas in North Karnataka, including Belagavi, Bidar, and Raichur, continue to face high temperatures amid election preparations.

The IMD advises the public to take precautions such as avoiding sun exposure during peak hours, staying hydrated, and wearing appropriate clothing to combat the heat waves effectively.
