Bengaluru Couple Recovers ₹4 Lakh Gold Chain After Mistakenly Immersing It With Ganesh Idol

In a surprising turn of events, a Bengaluru couple has successfully recovered a gold chain worth ₹4 lakh that was accidentally immersed with a Ganesh idol during a festival. The chain, which had been adorned on the idol, was found after an extensive 10-hour search.

Ramaiah and Umadevi, both teachers from Govindarajanagar, had decorated their Ganesh idol with a 60-gram gold chain for the festival. After completing the pooja, they inadvertently forgot to remove the chain before immersing the idol in a mobile tank. Upon realizing their mistake, they immediately alerted local authorities and the local MLA for assistance.

According to The Times of India, the couple discovered the omission only after the immersion process had begun. The initial search by the tank staff proved challenging due to the substantial amount of clay from the dissolved idols, which obscured the chain.

The Magadi police station, along with the mobile tank contractor’s team, initiated a thorough search operation. They pumped out 10,000 liters of water from the tank and sifted through the mud, which had accumulated from over 300 idols that had been immersed. After persistent efforts, the gold chain was located and returned to the relieved couple.

The contractor overseeing the tank confirmed the recovery, stating that despite the considerable debris, the chain was found in the early hours of the following day. The couple was promptly notified and retrieved the chain, ensuring the costly ornament was recovered in good condition.

This incident highlights both the devotion and the unforeseen challenges that can arise during festival celebrations, and the successful recovery of the gold chain serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the community and authorities.
