Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal, offered prayers at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Sunday. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accompanied him as the state government marked its third anniversary.
Kejriwal’s visit to Amritsar comes after he completed a 10-day Vipassana meditation session in Hoshiarpur. The spiritual visit coincides with the AAP-led Punjab government’s three-year milestone, following its landslide victory in the 2022 assembly elections.
Three Years of AAP in Punjab
Punjab Health Minister and AAP leader Balbir Singh extended his greetings to Bhagwant Mann, highlighting the government’s achievements.
“Three years of good governance under the Arvind Kejriwal model, three years of change! Better schools, revolutionized primary health care via mohalla clinics, upgraded hospitals, free power, and corruption-free governance. AAP continues to put people first. A journey of progress, transparency, and transformation led by CM Bhagwant Mann,” Singh posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Mann was sworn in as Punjab’s 17th Chief Minister on March 16, 2022, after AAP secured a two-thirds majority, winning 92 out of 117 seats, and dethroning Congress from power. The party further solidified its presence by securing victories in Patiala and Jalandhar during the December municipal elections.
Political Landscape
While AAP celebrates its governance in Punjab, the party faced setbacks in Delhi. In the recent Delhi Assembly elections, BJP’s Parvesh Verma secured a decisive victory over Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat, defeating him by over 4,000 votes. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit finished third with over 4,500 votes.
