In a courageous display of bravery, Indian Army soldier Sub Kuldeep Chand was killed in action while leading a counter-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The tragic incident occurred on the night of April 11, 2025, in the Keri-Battal area of Sunderbani, as the army intercepted terrorists attempting to infiltrate Indian territory.
Sub Kuldeep Chand, a soldier with the 9 Punjab regiment, laid down his life during the operation, which successfully thwarted the infiltration attempt. The Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldier, stating, “GOC (the General Officer Commanding), White Knight Corps, and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of braveheart Sub Kuldeep Chand.”
The operation, conducted by Sub Kuldeep and his team, was aimed at stopping a group of terrorists attempting to infiltrate through the heavily guarded LoC. The soldier’s leadership and bravery helped avert a significant security breach in the region. The White Knight Corps further praised his team’s valor, acknowledging that their combined efforts led to the foiling of the infiltration plot.
In a series of related military operations, the army also reported the successful elimination of two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. Despite challenging weather conditions, including snow and rough terrain, security forces were able to neutralize the militants during ongoing operations in the Chhatru area. The army recovered war-like stores, including an AK-47 and an M4 rifle, from the site.
These operations are part of a larger, intensified campaign against Pakistan-based militants trying to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir. The Kathua district has seen a rise in infiltration attempts over the past year, becoming a major route for militants from across the International Border to access the higher reaches of Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar districts.
In a previous incident on March 28, four police personnel were killed during a counter-terror operation in Kathua, where two terrorists were also shot dead. The region continues to be a hotspot for infiltration, and the army remains committed to neutralizing these threats, ensuring the safety and security of Indian territory.
The loss of Sub Kuldeep Chand marks another reminder of the dangerous and demanding work carried out by the brave personnel guarding the borders. His sacrifice, along with the ongoing efforts of the Indian Army, serves as a testament to the dedication and courage of the forces deployed along the Line of Control.
