In a daring early morning heist, armed robbers looted jewellery worth ₹25 crore from a Tanishq showroom in Bihar’s Arrah on Monday. The robbery took place at the Gopali Chowk branch, located in the Arrah police station area, and was caught on CCTV.
According to showroom manager Kumar Mrityunjay, a group of at least eight robbers barged into the store, threatened employees and security guards, and proceeded to steal a range of valuables, including gold chains, necklaces, bangles, and diamonds. Cash stored at the showroom was also taken.
Police Delayed in Responding, Claims Manager
Mrityunjay alleged that despite repeated calls, the police did not respond immediately. “This is a lapse by the authorities. It was broad daylight, not night-time. We kept calling the police, but there was no response,” he said.
Two showroom executives sustained injuries during the robbery, as the assailants struck them on the head with revolvers before escaping. The total value of the stolen items, including cash, is believed to exceed ₹25 crore.
CCTV Footage Captures the Crime
Footage from security cameras inside the showroom shows 8-9 masked robbers forcing their way inside and intimidating the staff. They swiftly grabbed cash from the counter along with several pieces of jewellery before making their getaway.
The police have launched an investigation and have so far arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery.
Separate Burglary Case in Latur
In a related development, police in Maharashtra’s Latur arrested two men and detained a minor for involvement in multiple house burglaries. The trio allegedly broke into a house on Katpur Road on February 18 and 21, stealing gold jewellery, silver coins, and cash from an iron cupboard.
Authorities have recovered stolen valuables, including gold, silver, and a motorcycle, worth ₹4.65 lakh.
