The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) has filed a new petition in a Vijayawada court, seeking an additional five-day custody of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the Skill Development Corporation scam case. This move comes after Mr. Naidu allegedly did not cooperate during his two-day interrogation at the Rajamahendravaram central prison.

Y N Vivekananda, the Special Public Prosecutor representing the CID police, informed news agency PTI about the second custody petition, which was filed due to Mr. Naidu’s alleged lack of cooperation. The petition is yet to be assigned a number.

Additionally, the court is expected to hear two more CID prisoner transit (PT) petitions related to the AP FiberNet and Amaravati Inner Ring Road cases later today.

During these legal proceedings, the former chief minister was represented by Senior lawyer Pramod Dubey.

Following the conclusion of Mr. Naidu’s two-day police custody on Sunday evening, the court extended his judicial remand until October 5.

This development follows the dismissal of Naidu’s FIR quash petition by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday. In response, Mr. Naidu approached the Supreme Court.

N Chandrababu Naidu was taken into custody on September 9, on allegations of misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which purportedly resulted in a loss exceeding ₹300 crore to the state exchequer. The case has garnered significant attention and legal proceedings as it unfolds in Andhra Pradesh.
