In a tragic turn of events, a young man attending a wedding in Penumada village, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, collapsed and died after suffering a cardiac arrest while greeting the bride and groom. The deceased, identified as Vamsi, was an employee of Amazon based in Bengaluru. He had traveled to Kurnool to attend the wedding of a close friend.
A video of the incident shows Vamsi, who had just handed over a gift to the newlyweds on stage, surrounded by cheering guests. As the groom began to unwrap the gift, Vamsi suddenly started to lose his balance, leaning toward the left. Guests rushed to support him, but he collapsed shortly after and was immediately taken to the Dhone City Government Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors confirmed his death, attributing it to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Vamsi’s death comes amidst a growing concern over young people experiencing heart attacks in unexpected places, including gyms and social gatherings. Dr. Ravi Gupta, a consultant cardiologist at Wockhardt Hospitals in Mumbai, attributes this increase to a combination of factors, including poor diet, stress, air pollution, and a sedentary lifestyle. He highlighted that genetic predisposition, combined with the adoption of Western lifestyles, has made young Indians more susceptible to heart disease.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in Tamil Nadu, where a 49-year-old teacher, Antony Gerald, passed away from a cardiac arrest while conducting a class. These incidents have prompted further discussions on the rising number of young people suffering from heart attacks and the need for awareness on cardiovascular health.
Vamsi’s untimely death has left family, friends, and wedding guests in shock, as they continue to process the sudden loss. His passing is a reminder of the importance of maintaining heart health, particularly in an era marked by high stress levels and unhealthy lifestyle habits.
