Air India has announced the suspension of all flights to and from Tel Aviv due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The decision, initially made on August 2, has been extended indefinitely as the situation in the region continues to deteriorate.

In a recent update posted on X (formerly Twitter), Air India stated, “In view of the current situation in parts of the Middle East, scheduled operation of our flights to and from Tel Aviv are suspended with immediate effect until further notice.” The airline assured passengers that it is monitoring the situation closely and will offer full refunds to those with confirmed bookings to Tel Aviv. Ensuring the safety of guests and crew remains a top priority for the airline.

This is not the first instance this year where Air India has had to suspend flights to Tel Aviv. Earlier in the year, the carrier briefly halted services due to the ongoing Middle East tensions. Flights to the Israeli city had resumed on March 3 after a temporary suspension.

The current suspension comes amid heightened conflict between Israel and various terror groups, including Hamas. Tensions have been exacerbated by recent developments, including the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut. The region is bracing for potential further conflict as Iran and its proxy, Hezbollah, have vowed retaliation.

The situation has led to fears of a broader regional war, with the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah along its northern border threatening to escalate. Air India’s decision to suspend flights reflects the serious nature of the ongoing conflict and the airline’s commitment to ensuring passenger safety during these uncertain times.
