A distressing incident unfolded in Ludhiana as businessman Sambhav Jain became the victim of a harrowing abduction and subsequent shooting by unidentified assailants demanding ransom. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sumit Sood, revealed that Jain was abducted near his factory premises around 8:30 pm on Friday.
Reports indicate that Jain, upon leaving his factory in his car, encountered a collision with a motorcycle roughly a kilometer away from the site. Police stated that this collision was orchestrated by the assailants, leading to four more individuals arriving swiftly at the scene. They forcibly took Jain and confined him in the back seat of his car before driving off.
The kidnappers, in a bid to extort ransom from Jain’s family, contacted them, prompting the family to alert the authorities. However, when the assailants suspected intervention from the police, they shot Jain in the thigh and abandoned him near the Vishwakarma Chowk Road. Subsequently, they fled the scene in Jain’s car.
Currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital, Jain’s condition has been reported as stable, marking a narrow escape from a life-threatening ordeal.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sumit Sood, confirmed that an investigation is underway, with a case filed against the unidentified culprits. The authorities are actively probing the incident to apprehend those responsible for the abduction and subsequent assault on Sambhav Jain, as the city grapples with the aftermath of this alarming incident.
