A distressing incident unfolded at Lotus 300 Society in Noida’s Sector 107, an upscale neighborhood, where a girl was bitten by a dog inside a lift. The incident, captured on CCTV, has sparked concerns about safety and dog attacks in residential areas.
The CCTV footage shows the lift opening, and a dog immediately lunges at the girl, causing her to recoil in shock and pain. A man intervenes to shoo away the dog and eventually kicks it out of the lift. However, the dog manages to enter the lift again briefly before moving away as the doors close.
The girl, visibly shaken and in pain, can be seen checking her arm and wiping tears from her eyes. She exits the lift on the ground floor, indicating the traumatic nature of the incident.
This incident adds to the growing list of dog attacks reported in residential areas. In April, a German Shepherd charged at a six-year-old girl riding her bicycle in an apartment complex in Ghaziabad, highlighting the potential dangers posed by unrestrained or aggressive dogs.
In response to such incidents, the Centre issued directives to states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 breeds of ferocious dogs, including Pitbull Terrier, American Bulldog, Rottweiler, and Mastiffs. The directive also emphasized the importance of sterilizing existing pets of these breeds to ensure public safety.
So far, there has been no statement from either the society or the police regarding this specific incident. However, it underscores the need for vigilance and measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in residential areas, ensuring the safety of residents, especially children and vulnerable individuals.
