
Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled ambitious plans to bolster India’s security along its borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, assuring complete fortification within the next two years. Speaking at the Border Security Force’s (BSF) 59th Raising Day commemoration, Shah outlined the government’s efforts and progress in enhancing border security.
Over the past nine years, since the Modi administration took office, Shah highlighted advancements in securing approximately 560 km of the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders. He assured that ongoing initiatives aim to cover the remaining 60 km gaps along these crucial fronts.
The Home Minister expressed confidence in achieving comprehensive security for both borders within the next two years. Highlighting the challenges posed by riverine, mountainous, and marshy terrains, Shah underscored the intricate nature of erecting fences, necessitating the use of advanced technology by security forces like the BSF.
Shah emphasized the pivotal role of secured borders in the nation’s development, attributing significant achievements such as Chandrayaan missions and economic progress to the dedicated efforts of security forces like the BSF. He lauded the BSF personnel, acknowledging their essential contribution to the nation’s safety.
Furthermore, Shah recounted the government’s efforts, including the establishment of new border posts, observation towers, enhanced connectivity, and improved facilities for border posts. He also addressed the decline in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) incidents, showcasing a significant reduction in violence and an increased security presence in affected areas.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism and enhancing security across key regions like Jammu and Kashmir and the northeastern states, Shah affirmed the resolve to consolidate peace and stability in these regions.
In his address, Amit Shah reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to strengthening border security, essential for the nation’s progress and security.
