In a heroic display of teamwork and perseverance, each worker emerged from the tunnel within approximately an hour, marking a triumphant culmination to the exhaustive rescue mission.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the tireless efforts of the rescue team, acknowledging their remarkable feat in safely extracting the workers from the dire situation. Expressing profound admiration for the workers’ courage and patience, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes for their well-being and health.
“The success of the rescue operation of our brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional. Your courage and patience are inspiring everyone. I wish you all well and good health,” shared Prime Minister Modi.
President Droupadi Murmu expressed relief and joy upon learning of the workers’ safe rescue, acknowledging their enduring struggle and resilience throughout the 17-day ordeal.

Rat-hole mining, a banned technique, played a pivotal role in clearing the final stretch after technological equipment initially faced obstacles in penetrating the collapsed portion. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel played a crucial role in guiding the workers through the intricate rescue process, pulling each worker through 60 meters of debris on specially designed stretchers.
