Fashion influencer Uorfi Javed has spoken out to clarify the viral video that created quite a buzz on social media, showing her being “arrested” by the “fashion police.” The former Bigg Boss OTT contestant took to her official Instagram account to provide context and revealed that the video was part of a collaboration with a fashion brand.
In the latest video, which simulates a prison setup, Uorfi Javed can be seen donning an orange outfit while holding a prison placard. She wrote in her Instagram post, “Arrested by the fashion police for my fierce fashion game, but nothing can stop me! Excited to announce FREAKIN’ UORFICATION, my collection launch with @Freakinsindia. Get ready for some sizzling styles!”
The original video, which depicted Uorfi being “arrested” by two women dressed as police officers, raised eyebrows and triggered a response from the Mumbai Police. The Mumbai Police clarified that there was no real arrest involved and emphasized that the insignia and uniform were misused in the video.
Mumbai Police issued a statement on social media, stating, “A viral video of a woman being allegedly arrested by Mumbai Police, in a case of obscenity is not true – insignia & uniform have been misused.” They added, “One Can’t Violate Law Of The Land, For Cheap Publicity!”
The police further revealed that a criminal case had been registered against those involved in the “misleading” video at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai. They noted that while the investigation was ongoing, the fake inspector from the video had been arrested, and the vehicle featured in the video had been seized.
Uorfi Javed’s clarification sheds light on the video’s context, which was intended as part of her collection launch in collaboration with the fashion brand. The incident serves as a reminder of the power of social media to create viral sensations and the importance of responsible use of law enforcement imagery for promotional purposes.
