Indian Olympic hero Neeraj Chopra has once again climbed to the No. 1 spot in the men’s javelin world rankings, surpassing Grenada’s Anderson Peters. According to the latest update by World Athletics, Neeraj now has 1445 points, reclaiming the position he lost in 2024.
National Record and Consistency Lead the Way
Neeraj’s climb back to the top has been fueled by remarkably consistent performances in 2025. The season began strong with a gold medal at the Potch Invitational in South Africa. But it was his incredible 90.23m throw at the Doha Diamond League that truly turned heads—setting a new Indian national record and earning him a spot in the prestigious 90m+ club.
Global Standings: Who Follows Chopra?
Trailing Chopra in the rankings is Anderson Peters, now in second place with 1431 points. Germany’s Julian Weber is currently ranked third, after launching the longest throw of the season—91.06m—at the Doha meet.
Arshad Nadeem, the Olympic gold medallist from Pakistan, has secured the fourth spot with 1370 points, while Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch holds fifth place.
Neeraj’s Winning Streak Against Peters Continues
In 2025 alone, Neeraj has competed against Peters four times—and emerged victorious in all of them. This dominance extends Neeraj’s career lead to 16-5 in final clashes. The last time Peters got the better of Neeraj was back in 2022 during the World Championships in Budapest, where he took gold and Neeraj claimed silver.
Titles Keep Rolling In for India’s Star
Neeraj’s performance streak didn’t stop at Doha. He bagged second place at the Kusocinski Memorial in Poland, followed by an 88.16m throw at the Paris Diamond League, which earned him another gold medal. Most recently, he added the Ostrava Golden Spike title to his growing list of 2025 achievements.
