Delhi Police have arrested four armed shooters associated with the notorious Prince Teotia gang in South Delhi’s Madangir area, successfully preventing a potential gang war, officials said on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Rakesh alias Raka, Hunny Rawat alias Badi, Rishu Prasad alias Monu, and Dilshad alias Golu. All four are repeat offenders with multiple cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery, and arms smuggling registered against them.
During the operation, police recovered four pistols, including a country-made firearm, eight live cartridges, and a car used by the gang.
Planned Gang Attack Foiled
According to the police, a tip-off led them to the gang members, who were traveling in a car on BRT Road near Madangir. Acting on the intelligence, a team of officers laid a trap and intercepted a suspicious vehicle at around 10 pm on Thursday.
“The four suspects were swiftly overpowered, and a search led to the recovery of three pistols with magazines, a country-made pistol, eight live cartridges, and the car,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Ambedkar Nagar Police Station, he added.
Gang Leader Sought Revenge After Jail Release
Investigations revealed that Rakesh alias Raka, a “bad character” of Ambedkar Nagar Police Station, had recently been released on bail after being convicted in a 2016 attempt to murder case.
Following his release in March 2025, Rakesh reunited with his associates and plotted revenge against a rival gang that had allegedly attacked him in jail. He, along with Hunny, Rishu, and Dilshad, planned to target rival gang members in Ambedkar Nagar and Malviya Nagar. Expecting resistance, all four were found carrying firearms, the police said.
The police are continuing their investigation to determine if other gang members are at large and to prevent further gang-related violence in the area.
