Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) sparked social media frenzy on Tuesday after expressing his admiration for the appearance of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, hinting at a potential biopic. The director claimed that no film star is as “good looking” as Bishnoi, leading to a wave of reactions online.
What RGV Said:
Sharing a photo of Lawrence Bishnoi in an orange t-shirt and a black-and-orange hoodie on X (formerly Twitter), RGV wrote, “If a film is based on the BIGGEST GANGSTER, no filmmaker will cast a guy who looks like DAWOOD IBRAHIM or CHOTA RAJAN… But here, I don’t know a single FILM STAR who is more GOOD LOOKING than B.”
The comment section was quickly flooded with responses. One user suggested, “Casting Salman Khan as Lawrence would be the biggest irony,” referencing the long-standing tension between the gangster and the Bollywood star. Another quipped, “RGV’s new crush!” Others speculated on who might play Bishnoi if a biopic were to be made, with one fan suggesting Bishnoi should play himself.
RGV Provokes Salman Khan:
Ram Gopal Varma didn’t stop there. In another post, he challenged Salman Khan, writing, “I wish @BeingSalmanKhan will give a SUPER COUNTER THREAT to B, or otherwise, it will look like COWARDICE of the TIGER STAR. SK owes it to his fans to rise up as the BIGGER SUPER HERO in comparison to B.”
The tension between Lawrence Bishnoi and Salman Khan dates back to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan, where Bishnoi issued threats to Salman due to the religious significance of the blackbuck to the Bishnoi community. Bishnoi, who has also been linked to the murder of Salman’s close aide, NCP leader Baba Siddique, continues to issue threats to the actor and his supporters.
Social Media Reactions:
RGV’s posts ignited discussions, with some fans taking the comments in jest, while others pointed out the provocations. Fans debated whether Salman Khan would respond or stay silent, with some suggesting the irony of casting Salman as the gangster he has a real-life feud with.
For now, the speculation surrounding a Lawrence Bishnoi biopic continues, but Ram Gopal Varma’s remarks have certainly intensified the buzz. Whether the film will come to fruition remains to be seen, but fans are eagerly waiting to see who might bring the infamous gangster’s life to the big screen.
