In a strong message aimed at Maoists, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged militants to abandon violence, lay down their arms, and surrender, emphasizing that an extensive operation will be launched against them if they do not comply. Speaking on Friday at his residence, Shah addressed 55 victims of Maoist violence from Chhattisgarh, highlighting the government’s commitment to eradicating Maoist ideology and violence from the country.
Shah declared, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided that Maoist violence will be wiped out. If you do not listen, then an all-out operation will be carried out soon to end the menace.” He set a bold timeline, stating that Maoists will take their “last breath” by March 31, 2026, if they fail to lay down their arms.
The Home Minister pointed out that security forces have made significant progress in combating Maoist activities, with the issue now largely confined to just four districts in Chhattisgarh. Shah referred to a previous Maoist plan to create a corridor from Pashupatinath in Nepal to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, which he claimed had been effectively dismantled by the current government.
In addition to military efforts, Shah announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs will develop a welfare scheme for those affected by Maoist violence in Chhattisgarh, working closely with the state government to provide necessary support.
