9-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted in Delhi’s Kalkaji Park Due to Open Electric Switchboard

In a tragic incident on Saturday night, a 9-year-old boy named Aryaman Chaudhary was electrocuted while playing in a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) park located in Kalkaji, southeast Delhi.

According to police reports, Aryaman was playing in the park when his ball landed near an open electric switchboard attached to an electric pole. As he attempted to retrieve the ball, he accidentally touched the exposed switchboard and suffered a severe electric shock.

Local residents and Aryaman’s family rushed him to a nearby hospital immediately, but doctors declared him brought dead. Aryaman was a resident of DDA Flats, Kalkaji.

The police received a PCR call about the incident around 9:30 pm and arrived promptly at the scene. An FIR has been registered at Kalkaji Police Station under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS against unknown persons.

An investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible for maintaining the electrical infrastructure in the park. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has not yet responded to requests for comment.

This unfortunate event raises serious concerns about the safety and maintenance of public spaces, especially those frequented by children. Authorities are urged to take immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
