A 50-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was recently rescued after being kidnapped and held hostage for ransom in a bizarre honeytrap operation. Lallu Chaubey, a resident of Lalitpur, was kidnapped on Thursday in Jhansi by a woman and two accomplices who had lured him under the pretext of a blind date. The kidnappers demanded ₹3 lakh for his release, of which ₹1 lakh had already been paid.
The incident came to light when Chaubey’s son filed a police complaint after receiving a ransom call. The police immediately launched an investigation, forming several teams to locate the victim. In a clever move, a constable posing as Chaubey’s son went to deliver the ransom money, leading police to the location where the man was being held.
Upon arriving, the police successfully rescued Chaubey and arrested three suspects: Kiran (35), Akhilesh Ahirwar (30), and Satish Singh Bundela (27). During interrogation, the suspects revealed that their modus operandi involved a woman calling a man, arranging a meeting in Jhansi, and then holding him hostage with the help of other accomplices.
The case has raised concerns about the use of social media and dating platforms to target unsuspecting individuals, and the police have warned the public to remain cautious when meeting people through such channels. Authorities have expressed their intent to investigate further and take action against those involved in similar crimes.
