Yogi Adityanath Issues Stern Warning Following Cancelled UP Police Exam Over Alleged Paper Leak

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning against those involved in compromising the future of the youth, following the cancellation of the police constable recruitment examination due to allegations of cheating. Adityanath’s statement comes in the wake of the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to annul the recruitment process, which saw the participation of around 48 lakh candidates earlier this month.

Speaking on Sunday, Adityanath emphasized the gravity of injustice done to the youth, labeling it as a national sin. “We have decided that we will adopt the policy of zero tolerance towards those who play with the lives and future of the youth and will deal with those elements strictly and harshly,” he asserted.

Adityanath further underscored the government’s commitment to setting an example through decisive action. This declaration follows Saturday’s announcement by the Yogi Adityanath-led government to scrap the police constable recruitment process amidst mounting protests over alleged widespread cheating during the exams.

The recruitment examination, held on February 17 and 18 with two shifts per day, witnessed the participation of 48 lakh candidates vying for 60,244 constable posts. In response to reports of fraudulent activities during the exam, authorities made 244 arrests.

In the wake of these developments, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the repeat of the recruitment process within the next six months. Adityanath, in a social media post, emphasized the importance of maintaining the sanctity of examinations and pledged to take the strictest action against those disrupting the process.

Notably, this recruitment drive marked Uttar Pradesh’s largest initiative for such positions since 2019, drawing applicants not only from within the state but also from neighboring states like Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Punjab.

The cancellation of the recruitment process and the subsequent government response underscore the challenges posed by alleged malpractice in large-scale examinations, raising concerns over the integrity and fairness of such processes. As investigations continue, the government’s commitment to upholding the standards of recruitment and accountability remains paramount in restoring public trust in the system.
