Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday raised serious concerns about the lack of an FIR in the ongoing case involving the discovery of large sums of cash from the residence of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma. The cash was allegedly found in March, after fire officials were called to the judge’s house during Holi celebrations to address a blaze. Dhankhar criticized the pace of the investigation, highlighting that if the case involved an ordinary citizen, the investigation would have proceeded swiftly.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a series of initiatives, including financial assistance for students preparing for competitive exams and skill development training for graduates, during an event marking the completion of three years of the state government at Parade Ground, Dehradun, on Sunday.

Government’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment

Speaking at the event, CM Dhami stated that the state government will establish a high-level committee to draft a concrete policy for the regular appointments of UPNL (Uttarakhand Purv Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited) and contract workers.

Additionally, he announced that government projects worth up to ₹10 crore will be awarded exclusively to local contractors, ensuring economic benefits remain within the state.

Achievements in Infrastructure and Governance

Highlighting the state’s progress in the past three years, Dhami mentioned major developments in sectors such as:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Road and air connectivity
  • Sports and drinking water facilities

He emphasized that Uttarakhand has successfully implemented over 30 new policies across various sectors, contributing to all-round development.

Key Welfare Schemes and Economic Growth

Dhami listed several government welfare schemes, including:
Three free LPG cylinders per year for Antyodaya families
30% horizontal reservation for women in government jobs
10% horizontal reservation for statehood activists
Old-age pension facilities
Sports quota reinstated in government jobs
Scholarships for students
207 free pathological tests in healthcare facilities

On the economic front, Uttarakhand has:
📈 Achieved a 4.4% decline in unemployment, surpassing the national average
📈 Registered a 13.59% GDP growth in 2023-24
📈 Increased per capita income by 11.33%, exceeding the national average

Strengthening Laws and Policies

Dhami also highlighted key legislative measures such as the Anti-Copying Act, which aims to curb mass cheating in school and university exams. He said the new land law will protect Devbhoomi from land mafias, ensuring proper land use.

He further claimed that over 70% of promises made in the government’s 2022 vision document have been fulfilled, with the remaining commitments on track for completion.

Recognizing Achievements and Public Welfare Initiatives

During the event, Dhami:
🏅 Honored 13 children who returned to mainstream education under the Child Begging Prevention initiative
💰 Distributed ₹10 crore as ex-gratia grants to landowners affected by the Lakhwar Multipurpose Project
🏡 Handed over cheques and keys to beneficiaries of the Atal Awas Yojana
📜 Awarded certificates to individuals who made commendable contributions to public welfare

Additionally, the Information and Public Relations Department released a booklet titled “Three Years of Service, Good Governance, and Development,” showcasing the government’s key decisions and achievements.

Grand Celebrations and Cultural Performances

The event also featured cultural performances by artists, and earlier in the day, CM Dhami led a roadshow from Kanak Chowk to Parade Ground to celebrate the three-year milestone of his government. He also visited various stalls showcasing government initiatives.

A Vision for Uttarakhand’s Future

Concluding his speech, CM Dhami reaffirmed the government’s commitment to development and good governance, urging people to support the state’s growth. With new policies, economic reforms, and welfare schemes, Uttarakhand aims to strengthen its position as a model state in India.
