A devastating head-on collision between a truck and a van near Jaitpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district claimed seven lives and left seven others injured on Tuesday afternoon, according to police reports.
The accident occurred around 2 PM on the Mathura-Kasganj road, said Nipun Agarwal, Superintendent of Police (SP), Hathras. Among the deceased were three men, three women, and a child, all residents of a village under the jurisdiction of the Chandpa police station. The injured were immediately transported to a higher medical facility in Aligarh for urgent treatment.
District officials acted swiftly to carry out relief operations, ensuring the injured received prompt medical attention.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “District administration officials have been instructed to carry out relief operations promptly and immediately take the injured to the hospital for proper treatment. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant a place to the departed souls at His feet and provide a speedy recovery to the injured.”
The collision has left the local community in shock, with authorities investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
