In a heartbreaking incident, at least seven members of a family, including two young children, lost their lives in a fire that broke out in their two-storey building in Chembur’s Sidharth Colony, Mumbai, early this morning. The tragedy unfolded around 5 AM, reportedly due to a short circuit in a shop located on the ground floor that sold electrical items.
The fire quickly spread to the upper floor, where the family was residing. Fire department officials responded swiftly, but the damage had already been done. The victims have been identified as Paris Gupta, 7, Narendra Gupta, 10, Manju Prem Gupta, 30, Anita Gupta, 39, Prem Gupta, 30, Vidhi Gupta, and Geeta Gupta.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud noises before the flames engulfed the building. Rescue operations were initiated immediately, but unfortunately, it was too late for the family members trapped inside.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the short circuit and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
