Govt Taking Steps to Ensure Employment for Youth: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized his government’s ongoing efforts to enhance employment opportunities and self-employment avenues for the youth, asserting that India is experiencing unprecedented growth in job creation and empowerment. Speaking at the 15th edition of Rozgar Mela, he highlighted the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters to recruits in various central government departments.

During his address, the Prime Minister pointed out that the youth of India are now shouldering new responsibilities in different sectors, which include strengthening the nation’s economic system, bolstering internal security, building modern infrastructure, and making fundamental changes in the lives of laborers. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing youth with opportunities to be key contributors to the country’s progress.

“The youth of a nation are its backbone for success. When the youth actively participate in nation-building, it not only accelerates the nation’s development but also establishes its identity on the global stage,” Modi stated.

He also highlighted the significant steps taken by his government to boost employment, particularly through policies aimed at supporting small enterprises, offering incentives to businesses, and ensuring comprehensive skill development programs. Initiatives like Skill India, Startup India, and Digital India were specifically mentioned by the Prime Minister as key drivers for youth empowerment.

The Prime Minister pointed out that India’s growth is not only reflected in its economy but also in the immense potential being shown by its youth. Modi stressed the role of youth-driven innovation in fields such as technology and digital transformation. “India now leads the world in real-time digital transactions, thanks to the youth’s contribution to platforms like UPI, ONDC, and GeM,” he remarked.

Further, the Prime Minister noted that India remains the fastest-growing major economy, according to the International Monetary Fund. He credited this growth to sectors such as automobile manufacturing and footwear, which have recorded new heights in production and exports, generating significant employment opportunities.

Additionally, the government’s Manufacturing Mission, introduced in the recent Budget, aims to strengthen the ‘Make in India’ initiative and provide youth with the chance to produce globally competitive products. This mission is expected to benefit millions of MSMEs and entrepreneurs, while also opening new employment doors across India.

Modi also shared that the cargo handled through inland water transport has surged significantly since 2014, from 18 million tonnes to 145 million tonnes, with the number of national waterways expanding from five to 110. Such infrastructure developments, he said, create further job opportunities for the youth.

The Prime Minister praised the rising participation of women in various sectors, noting that women are reaching new heights in fields such as bureaucracy, science, and space exploration. He pointed to programs like Self-Help Groups, Bima Sakhis, and Bank Sakhis, which have empowered rural women and opened new employment avenues for them.

Modi also celebrated the success of women in this year’s UPSC exam, with three of the top five positions claimed by women, underscoring the growing role of women in India’s progress. He further pointed out that over nine million self-help groups with more than 100 million women involved are a testament to the government’s focus on women empowerment.

In a special mention, the Prime Minister spoke about the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) set to take place in Mumbai. This summit, he said, will serve as a major opportunity for young creators in media, gaming, and entertainment to showcase their skills on a global platform. The event will also offer insights into emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence and immersive media, providing a fresh boost to the digital content industry.

“Through initiatives like WAVES 2025, the government is ensuring that the youth are at the forefront of India’s digital and creative revolution,” Modi added.

As India continues to evolve as a global economic powerhouse, the Prime Minister emphasized that the youth have a crucial role to play in this journey, and the government will continue to provide them with the resources, skills, and opportunities to succeed.
