In a devastating incident near Mumbai’s Girgaon Chowpatty, a fierce fire engulfed a three-storey building on Saturday, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives. The blaze, which originated around 10 pm, erupted on the second and third floors of the Gomati Bhavan Building situated on Ranganekar Road.
Regrettably, the fire claimed the lives of a male and a female, their bodies recovered from the charred remains on the third floor of the building. The intensity of the fire primarily affected the third floor of the Gomati Sadan building, spanning across the ground level, upper three floors, and the attic.
Upon receiving the distress call, a swift response ensued, deploying at least 16 fire-fighting vehicles to the site. Accompanying them were senior fire department officials and ambulances, promptly arriving to contain the calamity.
“Firefighting operations are actively underway utilizing a total of five lines, inclusive of two first-aid lines, two smaller lines, and one substantial line, all executed after the electricity supply was cut off. The immediate cause of the fire remains under investigation,” conveyed an official overseeing the operation.
The tragic incident has drawn significant attention, prompting an urgent response from emergency services in their efforts to combat the blaze and manage the aftermath. Authorities continue their investigation to ascertain the root cause of the fire that led to this distressing loss of life.
