Tragedy struck in Noida Sector 53 on Sunday morning as a 64-year-old man, Janak Dev Shah, lost his life after being hit by a speeding car. The vehicle, identified as a high-end Audi, struck Shah while he was on his way to buy milk near Kanchanjunga market.
CCTV footage of the incident, shared on social media platform X, captured the horrific accident. The video depicted the car colliding with Shah at an intersection, causing him to be thrown into the air due to the impact.
According to Vivek Kumar Shrivastava, the station house officer of Sector 24, Shah, a retired Akashwani employee and resident of Gijhore in Sector 53, was struck around 6:30 am. Despite immediate efforts by a passerby who called emergency services, Shah was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby private hospital.
The Noida police have launched an investigation into the incident, with multiple teams analyzing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the driver of the Audi, who fled the scene. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint filed by Shah’s son, Pradeep Shah.
Sandeep Shah, another son of the deceased, expressed shock over the sudden loss of his father, who was known for his routine morning walks and visits to buy milk. The family is devastated by the tragic turn of events, emphasizing the need for road safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
