In a shocking incident, the dismembered body of a 26-year-old woman was discovered inside a refrigerator in an apartment located in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area. Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing a foul odor emanating from the apartment, prompting the police to investigate.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Satish Kumar, the body had likely been kept inside the fridge for an extended period. The police have identified the woman, who had been living in Bengaluru but originally hailed from another state.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the 165-litre fridge operational, with maggots infesting the remains. A dog squad and fingerprint team are currently securing the crime scene, while forensics experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have been summoned to gather evidence.
“This is a one-BHK house within Vyalikaval police station limits. The incident appears to have occurred some time ago,” stated Mr. Kumar. “We will provide more information after the initial investigation is completed.”
The gruesome nature of this case bears disturbing similarities to the 2022 murder of Shraddha Walkar in Delhi, who was killed by her boyfriend, Aaftab Amin Poonawala. In that case, her body was also dismembered and discarded in a forested area.
