Congress Expels Spiritual Guru Acharya Pramod Krishnam for Alleged Anti-Party Statements

In a move indicative of internal discord, the Congress party has expelled prominent spiritual leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam for a duration of six years, citing his purportedly “anti-party” remarks. The decision, announced in an official statement on Saturday, comes amidst escalating tensions following Krishnam’s recent interactions, including a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress statement declared, “In light of complaints regarding indiscipline and consistent public statements against the party, the Congress President has approved the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee’s proposal to immediately expel Pramod Krishnam from the party for a period of six years.” Krishnam’s expulsion coincides closely with his engagement with Prime Minister Modi and his invitation to the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shri Kalki Dham in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, scheduled for February 19.

Expressing gratitude to PM Modi for accepting the invitation, Krishnam had conveyed his privilege in extending the invitation via a tweet. PM Modi, in response, acknowledged the significance of the event and expressed his appreciation for being a part of the auspicious occasion.

Krishnam’s divergence from party lines extended further with his critique of the Congress leadership’s decision to abstain from participating in the Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishthan’ ceremony in Uttar Pradesh, despite receiving an invitation. Labeling Lord Ram as the “soul of India,” Krishnam deemed the party’s refusal as “unfortunate” and emphasized the universal significance of honoring such invitations.

“This is unfortunate. Not even a Christian, a priest, or a Muslim can decline the invitation of Lord Ram. Ram is the soul of India. Without Ram, India can’t even be imagined,” stated Krishnam, underscoring the cultural and religious significance of the event.

Krishnam’s expulsion from the Congress party underscores the widening ideological chasm within its ranks and raises questions about the party’s ability to maintain cohesion amidst differing perspectives. As political dynamics continue to evolve, the repercussions of such internal strife on the party’s electoral prospects remain a subject of scrutiny and speculation.
