A devastating accident in the Thandikassi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir claimed the life of a 21-year-old student and left 24 others injured. The incident occurred when a minibus, en route from Manjakote to Rajouri, collided with two cars near the Radha Soami Satsang Ashram before overturning.
Police authorities confirmed the tragic incident, highlighting that the minibus, carrying students from various educational institutions in Rajouri, met with the fatal collision early on Wednesday. Among the 24 injured passengers, 17 were identified as students, all of whom were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Rajouri for immediate medical attention.
Dr. Mehmood Bajar, the medical superintendent at the hospital, provided details on the victims, stating, “Of the 24 injured passengers under treatment, 17 are students.” The students, on their way to colleges in the morning, were traveling in the minibus when the calamitous accident unfolded.
Authorities have initiated legal proceedings in response to the tragic event. A case has been registered under Sections 279 (pertaining to rash and negligent driving) and 304-A (related to causing death by negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
