In a strategic move signaling their preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recently appointed new chiefs across several states. With crucial state polls also on the horizon, the party aims to strengthen its leadership and organizational structure. The BJP has scheduled a meeting on July 7, where state presidents, state general secretaries, and state in charges will convene to discuss further plans and strategies.

G Kishan Reddy, a Member of Parliament and Union Minister, has been chosen to lead the party in the poll-bound state of Telangana. Reddy replaces Bandi Sanjay Kumar, assuming the responsibility of steering the BJP’s efforts in the state. BJP MLA Etela Rajender, who previously served as the finance minister of Telangana, has been appointed as the chairman of the BJP’s state election management committee for the upcoming Telangana assembly polls. Rajender, who began his political career with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi led by K Chandrashekar Rao, joined the BJP in 2021.

Daggubati Purandeswari, the daughter of Telugu Desam Party founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, has been named the Andhra Pradesh BJP president. This move highlights the party’s intention to expand its presence and consolidate its support base in the state.

In Punjab, Sunil Kumar Jakhar, a former Member of Parliament who defected from the Congress party in May last year, has been appointed as the state’s BJP chief. Jakhar, expressing his desire to support “nationalism, unity, and brotherhood,” brings his experience and expertise to the forefront as the party looks to make significant gains in the region.

Babulal Marandi, the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the current Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, has been chosen as the BJP’s Jharkhand president. Marandi’s leadership is expected to galvanize the party’s efforts in the state and strengthen its position ahead of upcoming elections.

Additionally, Kiran Kumar Reddy, the last Chief Minister of the United Andhra Pradesh before the formation of Telangana state, has been appointed as a member of the BJP’s national executive committee. Reddy’s inclusion in the committee reflects the party’s emphasis on incorporating experienced leaders to guide its decision-making at the national level.

The BJP, under the leadership of party president JP Nadda and National General Secretary BL Santosh, will preside over the meeting of state presidents, state general secretaries, and state in charges on July 7. This gathering serves as an opportunity to align strategies, exchange ideas, and foster greater cohesion among party leaders.

As part of their preparations for the future, sources indicate that a union cabinet meeting is also likely to take place at 10:30 am on the following day, providing a platform for important discussions and decision-making within the party.

With these key appointments and upcoming meetings, the BJP aims to fortify its organizational structure, amplify its presence in various states, and lay a solid foundation for the upcoming state polls and the crucial 2024 elections.
