Railway Minister Mandates Display of Food Menu and Prices in Trains

The display of menus and rate lists for food items served to passengers in trains is now mandatory, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. He stated that passengers can access the menu and pricing details on the IRCTC website, while printed menu cards are available with waiters and provided upon request. Additionally, rate lists are displayed inside pantry cars for transparency.

Meet Pallavi Lumba – a freelance writer from the entertainment industry.

Pallavi Lumba is a freelance writer who has been working in the entertainment industry for over a decade. She has exposure in Television and OTT medium. Currently, she is working as a part of the writing team with a renowned production house. Her forte lies in romance, thriller and horror genres.

As a Guest Columnist, Pallavi has written for several websites, including rediff.com (Just a Bird in the Sky – 2000) and Cricketnext.com (Takes a Man to Own Up – 2000/01). In 2019, Pallavi wrote a corporate film for a renowned hospital on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. A learner of the craft, with the onset of the pandemic, she has enrolled in many writing workshops to hone and fine-tune her skills, and still continues to do so.

In 2021, Pallavi ventured into the realm of novels as a co-author of anthologies. In the last one year, her writings (short stories and poetry) have been published in over 20 anthology book.

Pallavi is also passionate about Photography and some of her photography works has been published in Elysian Magazine in October 2021. Her interview as the author of the month was featured in Elysian Magazine in November 2021. Pallavi also started her own website in the same month.

She also has a poetry recital video channel on YouTube as well as a poetry recital podcast.

In February 2022, Pallavi was facilitated with the “Aaj Ki Naari” award by Cherry Book Awards and The Update India. Additionally, she featured in a live Instagram interview, an initiative by the Cherry Book Awards for her notable contribution in the writing fields.

Currently, Pallavi is developing her own feature film and novel. She wishes to pay it forward to the entertainment industry (which has given her so much love over the years) through powerful stories that bring about a fundamental change in the world. She strives to give back to the world by crafting stories that inspire global change for humanity’s good. She believes that words have the capacity to heal hearts as well as create a more humane world in which individuals complement, elevate, and grow alongside one another. With her writings, she seeks to instil hope, joy and courage in the lives of individuals the world over.
