Holding a Master’s Degree in English and a Master of Education (M.Ed.), Monika has spent
more than 10 years in the education industry, working as a teacher with some of India’s leading
schools. Throughout her career, she has been deeply involved in helping young learners
develop language and literacy skills, giving her firsthand insight into the challenges children face
in their learning journey.
While working with students from diverse backgrounds, Monika noticed a recurring pattern.
Many children could memorize words and complete classroom assignments, but struggled to
read unfamiliar words independently. This often led to frustration, reduced confidence, and a
lack of enthusiasm for learning.
Rather than accepting this as a common educational challenge, Monika set out to find a better
way.
Her search led her to Synthetic Phonics, a structured and research-backed approach to
teaching reading and spelling. After becoming a Certified Phonics Instructor, she began
implementing phonics-based strategies and witnessed remarkable improvements in children’s
reading abilities, pronunciation, spelling accuracy, and overall confidence.
The transformation she observed in her students reinforced a powerful belief: every child has
the potential to become a confident reader when given the right foundation.
Driven by this vision, Monika founded Monak Learning, an initiative dedicated to helping
children build strong literacy skills while empowering parents and educators with effective
teaching methodologies.
Today, Monak Learning focuses on developing reading, writing, and spelling skills through
structured phonics instruction. The platform offers online phonics classes, teacher certification
programs, workshops, and literacy-focused learning solutions designed to support children
during their most critical years of development.
According to Monika, literacy is not just another academic subject—it is the gateway to lifelong
learning.
