Explosions Rock Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, Srinagar, and Uri Near Army Installations

Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, Srinagar, and Uri regions were rocked by a series of loud explosions early on Saturday morning, sending shockwaves across the already tense region. Locals in Srinagar reported at least five significant explosions in various parts of the city, while Baramulla residents reported two to three explosions around 5:00 AM, following a spate of explosions late Friday night. The blasts occurred in close proximity to Army installations, fueling concerns of escalating security threats in the region.

The incidents have raised alarms as the state continues to grapple with rising tensions and military confrontations. The explosions in Baramulla and Srinagar appear to be part of a broader pattern of violence, including shelling and displacement, seen across Jammu and Kashmir in recent days. The explosions in Uri, a town that has experienced repeated shelling in the past, added to the region’s already fragile security situation. Many of Uri’s residents, fearing for their safety, have reportedly moved to safer locations.

“We heard at least four to five explosions early this morning,” said Yasmeen Akhtar, a resident of Rajbagh in Srinagar, describing the panic that swept through the area as a result of the blasts. The explosions were followed by a tense silence, leaving the residents unsure of what might happen next.

In addition to the explosions, there have been reports of fresh shelling from the Gurez and Kupwara areas in northern Kashmir, further exacerbating the sense of fear in the region. Authorities have so far remained tight-lipped about the causes and consequences of the blasts, adding to the growing sense of uncertainty and anxiety among the public.

This series of explosions comes at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with both countries engaged in a war of words and accusations. While there have been no immediate official statements regarding the cause of the explosions, the proximity of the blasts to Army bases suggests they could be related to ongoing military activities or potential sabotage efforts.

Security forces are reportedly on high alert in the affected regions, and investigations into the incidents are underway. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and comply with any safety protocols issued by local officials. Meanwhile, the public’s sense of unease is palpable, as they await more details from the government on the nature of the attacks and any further threats.
