Pakistani Army Violates Ceasefire at LoC in J&K, India Retaliates

In a significant breach of the ceasefire agreement, the Pakistani Army opened unprovoked fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, prompting retaliation from Indian forces, sources in the Indian Army confirmed.

According to officials, the incident occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector on April 1. A mine blast reportedly took place while Pakistani troops were patrolling along the LoC, following which they initiated firing in violation of the ceasefire.

“Our troops responded effectively. The Indian Army continues to dominate the LoC, and the situation is under control,” an Army source said. No casualties have been reported on either side.

The ceasefire along the LoC has been in effect since 2021 when top military officials from both India and Pakistan agreed to address concerns that could lead to violence. The agreement aimed to ensure peace along the border by adhering to all existing understandings. However, sporadic violations by Pakistan have raised tensions in the past.

The Indian Army has reiterated the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and urged adherence to the agreement between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries.

While India remains committed to peace, it has made it clear that any provocation along the border will be met with a strong response.
