Explosion Heard in Northwest Delhi's Prashant Vihar, Police and Emergency Teams Rush to Spot

An explosion was reported in the Prashant Vihar area of northwest Delhi on Thursday morning, causing panic among locals. The incident occurred at 11:48 AM near the PVR multiplex, with the blast being heard near a park’s boundary wall. The explosion led to the dispatch of emergency teams, including the police, fire engines, and a bomb detection unit, along with a dog squad to the site.

While the cause of the explosion is still under investigation, the police have cordoned off the area. Officials confirmed that a minor injury was sustained by the driver of a three-wheeler who was parked nearby. No fatalities have been reported so far. The police said they found a white powdery substance at the blast site, which mirrors a similar finding from a previous blast near the CRPF school in Prashant Vihar a month ago. That explosion had damaged the school’s wall, though no casualties were reported.

Delhi Police, including a team from the Special Cell, are at the location, investigating further. A Delhi Fire Services official stated that four fire tenders were dispatched immediately to the spot, and the area has been sealed off to ensure safety.

According to initial reports, this explosion is suspected to be a low-intensity blast, and while it bears similarities to last month’s blast near the school, police sources have stressed that it is too early to draw any definitive connections. The explosion occurred opposite a sweet shop, and local authorities are continuing to analyze the situation.
