Bengaluru woke up to rain-soaked streets and overcast skies on Friday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued rainfall throughout the day. The showers, accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, are expected to provide relief from the recent dry spell. However, authorities have urged residents to remain cautious due to potential waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Bengaluru saw moderate rainfall and cloudy skies on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, and surrounding districts until December 13. The showers are a part of a broader weather pattern caused by a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which is bringing heavy rainfall to coastal regions and moderate showers to southern Karnataka.

Bengaluru has set a new weather record, experiencing its coldest day of 2024 so far. On Friday, the city’s maximum temperature dropped to a chilly 23.8 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This significant temperature dip marks a deviation from the typical July temperatures in the “Garden City.”
